Michael Jackson’s dance moves are considered to be among the most original and creative dance moves to ever have been performed on stage by any dancer. MJ’s moves and steps have always succeeded in thrilling fans and stealing the spotlight. When he moved through a choreographed routine like an automaton, what could be seen on stage was the fluidity and the serpentine motion with which he set the stage on fire. This move, which was made popular by MJ, set off a whole series of moves, such as the lock and pop and numerous other sub genres.
* The Moonwalk: This is one step that has become synonymous with the King of Pop, although he was not its original creator. What makes this move outrageously impressive is the fact that it is actually an illusionary dance move. Not every one can master this move and only a few have succeeded in mastering it the way Michael Jackson did. When Michael Jackson performed this step in “Billie Jean”, he shot from being just a great singer to an all time great dancer.
* The Never Ending Spin: One of the all time greatest dance moves by the King of Pop, the never ending spin was one MJ’s trademark steps. It is almost impossible to count the number of spins Michael Jackson would perform before coming to a stop and that too wearing tap shoes and spinning on concrete or hard wood floors.
* The Crotch Clutch: Another move made famous by Jackson was the signature crotch clutch. It first appeared in MJ’s music video, “Bad”, directed by Martin Scorsese. This step was mostly accompanied by a high pitched squeal of “ow”. Although recent music icons like Eminem and Fred Durst might have adopted the crotch clutch as part of their on stage antics, the King of Pop’s specialty was his capability of thrusting his pelvis suggestively in a sort of musical salute without giving the appearance of being crass or overly offensive.
