I bought this product with the understanding that it would be in “compact disc” form, not vinyl. The previous description, before it was recently changed, said the format was audio CD.(Even on the receipt Amazon sent me it clearly says “The Acapella Album- Michael Jackson—Audio CD). Amazon probably assumed, understandably, that it would be on CD as well, because what company in today’s technologically savvy world would release vinyl instead of CD? I can understand it being sold in vinyl format IN EDITION TO CD but not INSTEAD OF. How would we transfer the music to our mp3 players? iPods? How many people today actually have record players?… unless you’re a DJ…or my parents. (Even though it may have been an honest mistake on Amazon’s part, to list it as CD, it would have been nice to have been informed before processing my order).
To say I was a little upset when I received my package is an understatement. I’ve been waiting anxiously for weeks, and to receive it and not be able to play it, I’m sure you can understand my extreme disappointment. However, after debating on whether or not to return it, I decided on keeping it and just having it converted myself. You never know when or if they will even release this on CD.
The reason I gave it 5 stars is because I already have about half of the songs from this acapella album on CD, which I downloaded via Limewire. They sound great! Michael’s voice is unbelievable! In an age where “popstars” rely heavily on studio/sound engineering and instruments to create hits, Michael’s voice alone was an instrument to be reckoned with. He had the most pure, melodic voice I have ever heard. Personally, I prefer Michael’s voice on a lot of his songs e.g., Earth Song, Stranger In Moscow, Smooth Criminal and Who Is It, without the instrusion of instruments. They only played second fiddle when up against MJ’s voice, anyway. Pun intended.
