To go back to a place where these things were happening and this man was doing this to them, wouldn’t their first thought be “okay jee he’s touching my private parts this is not right.” I’m sure they wouldn’t just let him do shit to them without knowing it was wrong, They continued going back they continued the friendship with him. I don’t even care that Michael talked over Diane at 2:08 by repeating nothing, becos you could tell he was frustrated. Usually he’s polite, but he deserved that moment & more. Something I noticed was when Diane would walk around a question, or ask in a way that made him seemed guilty, Michael would always point it out. He had a reason to be defensive in this interview. But he was honest also.

And the fact that her questions are tabloid-based says it all doesn’t it. Besides, it becomes excruciatingly clear that she’s completely incompetant as a journalist when years later she narrates her interview with Lisa: “Lisa Marie Presley marries MICHAEL JAKSON – how weird does it get!?” The term weird is such an unprofessional word; I don’t even know where to start. When Michael in later years said he was a target he was dead-on.

I get what you’re saying. The problem is that she is focusing on the media notion that “michael jackson is weird” and thereby reinforcing it by acknowledging and reproducing it. Redundancy has power – when it’s the only thing being reported then that’s what people will think of whenever michael jackson’s name is mentioned. The entire interview was based on the assumption that he was unable to do anything “normal”.
